Long View introduces its customers to NetApp’s FAS3200 series midrange storage platform

CALGARY, Alberta (November 7, 2012) — In the boardroom, just as in nature, little acorns can transform themselves into mighty oaks. And if your growing business is serious about spreading its roots, Long View knows just the data storage platform to grow along with you.

Long View (longviewsystems.com), one of North America’s most dynamic providers of IT consulting, outsourcing solutions, and cloud services, is pleased to announce that it will soon make available to its valued customers a powerful, exciting new midrange storage platform recently unveiled by one of its strategic partners.

NetApp, a global leader in storage and data management, has introduced new additions to the FAS3200 series, a Flash-optimized and cluster-enabled platform that serves as the foundation for an agile data infrastructure. The new systems, the FAS3220 and FAS3250, increase the performance and scalability for growing enterprises — improving performance by up to 80 per cent, and increasing storage capacity by as much as 100 per cent over their predecessor.

“Growing businesses are always looking for an edge . . . and this new midrange storage solution from NetApp, the FAS3200 series, is pretty sharp and sophisticated,” says Kent MacDonald, Long View’s Vice-President of Converged Infrastructure. “These improved systems can help Long View’s customers optimize their IT environments, make the best use of their resources, and handle the rapidly changing needs of their business.”

The FAS3220 and FAS3250 systems represent a superior mix of performance and capacity scaling to grow with a business. They can quickly adapt to support any application workload — reducing complexity across operations, and providing the ability to take on new projects, regardless of size.

The FAS3200 series also enables nondisruptive operations, which allow transparent technology refreshes and rebalancing of workloads. This helps in eliminating planned and unplanned downtime, and improves service in several ways — bringing new applications and technologies online more easily, making changes to the environment while maintaining users’ data access, and responding in real-time to the demands of the business.

The FAS3200 series can be tailored to either a virtualized, cloud or traditional environment — from a few terabytes of storage, all the way up to 2PB and more. This new midrange storage platform leverages NetApp’s clustered Data ONTAP, meaning that growing businesses can deploy an infrastructure scaling seamlessly from two to 24 storage nodes, without ever having to deal with system downtime.

“NetApp is committed to providing organizations with the performance and scalability required to meet their current requirements and future growth objectives,” says Julie Parrish, senior vice-president of Global Partner Sales, NetApp.

“We’re pleased to team with Long View as a trusted advisor to assist customers in simplifying and accelerating their agile data infrastructure deployments built on our new FAS3200 series products.”

Balancing the data infrastructure realities of today with the growth promise of tomorrow, NetApp’s FAS3200 series delivers industry-leading performance, capacity scaling, and value to create an infrastructure foundation that accelerates business growth. To hear why the new FAS3200 series is a game changer in the midrange market, watch Brendon Howe, VP of Product and Solutions Marketing at NetApp, discuss the new platforms.

NetApp made the announcement regarding its new midrange storage systems, engineered to help organizations run faster and scale further, on Monday, Nov. 5. To learn more about how businesses are using the cluster- and Flash-enabled platforms as a foundation for growth, go to the announcement.
