His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, today announced 99 new appointments to the Order of Canada including Kim McConnell, a member of Long View’s Board of Directors. Kim has been appointed to the Order of Canada for his leadership in promoting Canada’s agricultural industry and for his extensive engagement in causes supporting youth, entrepreneurship and rural communities. “This July 1 also marks 50 years since the creation of the Order of Canada and the individuals on today’s list, just like those appointed half a century ago, are truly inspiring as they have helped to build the smarter, more caring nation that we, as Canadians, are all so proud to call home” said the Governor General.
Kim is the founder and former CEO of AdFarm, an agriculture-focused marketing and communications firm. Over the years, Kim has led many national and international brand and marketing assignments for many companies and played a lead role in branding the City of Calgary and the naming and international branding of EnCana. Kim has served as director on a number of company boards and we are fortunate enough to have him on our Board. He mentors a number of entrepreneurs and provides volunteer leadership to many organizations. Currently, Kim is a director on the Canadian 4-H Council and former Chairman of the Canadian 4-H Foundation.
The Order of Canada is one of our country’s highest civilian honors that recognizes outstanding achievement and dedication to the community and to Canada. The motto of the Order is DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM (“They desire a better country”). Those who have been appointed to the Order come from all areas of society and make significant contributions to better our community and nation.
