CALGARY, Alberta and DENVER, Colorado (June 1, 2015) — Bill Evelyn knows Calgary’s information technology (IT) scene inside and out. Just as importantly, he’s brimming with Stampede City spirit.
After holding IT industry leadership positions in Calgary for more than two decades, Long View is excited to announce Bill being named General Manager of its Calgary branch, effective today. Most recently, Bill has been based in Calgary as General Manager, Practices for Long View (longviewsystems.com), one of North America’s most powerful providers of Hybrid IT solutions and services.
“Bill has an amazing set of relationships within the Calgary IT industry, and is an excellent cultural ambassador within Long View,” says Gord Mawhinney, Long View’s Chief Executive Officer. “I am very confident in Bill’s ability to lead the Calgary branch to continued success.”
Bill began working at Long View in March 2013. As the general manager for Long View’s recently launched Hybrid IT practices, he has been integral to its early success and strategic application across North America, and demonstrated tremendous leadership at the helm of Long View’s new team of Hybrid IT practice directors.
Previously, Bill spent nearly 20 years as Calgary-based senior regional director for Microsoft Canada Co., running Microsoft’s enterprise business in Western Canada. He also has industry experience with IBM Canada, and graduated with honours from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 1988.
Long View insiders maintain that Bill’s knowledge of the Western Canadian IT landscape is matched only by his interest in vintage guitars and a long day on the links.
Bill replaces Jeff Mathews — who has held dual roles as branch manager of Long View’s Calgary and Houston offices in recent months, and will now focus solely on Long View’s Houston operations.
Robin Bell, Long View’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), has assumed Bill’s role leading the company’s Hybrid IT practice directors. “This is a natural fit for Robin,” remarks Gord, “with his passion for leadership and deep technology capability.”
