Organizational Needs
This Forest Products company was currently using Citrix XenApp to deliver line of business applications to around three hundred users, distributed across thirty sites. With the introduction of a new facility in Arlington, Washington, and other planned acquisition activities in the near future, they expect the number of Citrix users to increase significantly. This created a need for a hybrid cloud environment that allowed them to efficiently deliver their mills from the cloud and on-premises.
The Solution
Long View was engaged for the design and implementation of a new parallel Citrix environment, using the Citrix Cloud platform. Citrix Cloud is a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) model which simplifies the delivery and management of Citrix technologies, whilst making use of existing investments in physical and virtual infrastructure. Long View was chosen for our experience in delivering services as a cloud provider and our expertise in architecting and implementing Azure and Citrix Cloud Solutions.
RESULTS
This solution provides a layering of value from Microsoft, Citrix and Long View’s expertise to deliver a single framework for application modernization. The benefits to this Forest Products company include:
Enabled competitiveness for rapid growth
Azure runs the infrastructure, Citrix provides the delivery software, and Long View manages each of the components to ensure availability, performance, and service delivery to support their rapid growth and presence in the United States.
Revitalization of ageing infrastructure
Outdated infrastructure to support workloads are now on Azure and delivered through Citrix. With simplified management of cloud and server, applications can be managed on cloud and on-premises to be delivered to clients globally.
