WHAT'S HAPPENING: Microsoft 365 E7 Announced
WHEN: May 1, 2026
Microsoft has announced the new Microsoft 365 E7 launching May 1, 2026, designed for organizations ready to scale AI securely across their business. Priced at $99 USD MSRP per user per month, E7 simplifies licensing by bundling key capabilities that were previously licensed separately.

Microsoft 365 E7 includes everything in Microsoft 365 E5, plus Microsoft 365 Copilot, the Microsoft Entra Suite for advanced identity and Zero Trust access, and Agent 365, a new control plane for governing and securing AI agents.

WHAT'S HAPPENING: Launch of Agent 365
WHEN: May 1, 2026
Agent 365 will be launched alongside the Microsoft 365 E7 Frontier Suite on May 1st. Agent 365 is the control plane that enables scale adoption of agents with proper oversight and guardrails. Agent 365 helps you move from agent experimentation to enterprise-scale operations with three core capability areas: observe, govern and secure. Agent 365 extends the management, security, and governance tools organizations already use for employees to agents, so they can stay in control as agents become part of daily work. The product, when purchased standalone, will be priced at $15 USD MSRP per user per month. There is an overview and interactive demo available here.
WHAT'S HAPPENING: Additional Dataverse Capacity being added to Dynamics 365 Sales Premium
WHEN: April 15, 2026
Customers with Dynamics 365 Sales Premium licenses will automatically receive an increase in their Dataverse storage capacity. The default per-tenant storage capacity will be increased from 30 GB to 45 GB, and capacity accrued per user subscription license will be increased from 250 MB to 500MB. In addition, Dataverse file capacity will be increased from 40 GB to 60 GB.
WHAT'S HAPPENING: Extended Security Updates for Windows Server 2016
WHEN: January 12, 2027
When Windows Server 2016 reaches end of support on January 27, 2027, devices will no longer receive security updates, fixes, or technical support. As a temporary bridge, Microsoft offers Extended Security Updates (ESU), which provides critical and important security updates, but no new feature fixes. ESU is available for up to three years after support ends. Microsoft recommends upgrading to a newer version (e.g., Windows Server 2025), but if migration cannot be completed prior to the end of support date, ESU will be made available. Pricing and availability will be announced in the coming months.
WHAT'S HAPPENING: Extended Security Updates for Windows 10 2016 LTSB
WHEN: October 13, 2026
Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB is approaching end of support, and Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 (where hardware allows) or Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021. If an upgrade isn’t possible by October 13, 2026, organizations can purchase Extended Security Updates for up to three years, starting in Q2 2026, at $61 USD MSRP per device for year one (or $45 with Intune or Windows Autopatch). ESU pricing doubles each year and is cumulative – for example, if you decide to enroll devices in the ESU program in year two, you will also need to pay the year one costs.
For Windows IoT Enterprise LTSB 2016, ESUs are also available for up to three years, but must be purchased directly through the device’s OEM.
WHAT'S HAPPENING: General Availability of Azure SRE Agent
WHEN: March 10, 2026
Microsoft has announced the general availability of Azure SRE Agent, an AI‑powered operations assistant that helps diagnose, triage, and remediate Azure incidents automatically. Azure SRE Agent is opt‑in and has no impact on Microsoft 365 or Copilot licensing. Instead, it is billed directly to the Azure subscription using a new consumption model based on Azure Agent Units (AAUs), which includes an always‑on baseline cost per agent and additional usage‑based charges when the agent actively investigates or resolves issues. You can read more on this service here.
WHAT'S HAPPENING: Fabric Capacity Overage Feature in Public Preview
WHEN: March 18, 2026
Capacity overage in Microsoft Fabric is currently in public preview. This is an opt‑in safety feature that prevents throttling by automatically paying for excess Capacity Unit (CU) usage when workloads temporarily exceed a capacity’s limits. Overage is billed at 3× the pay‑as‑you‑go rate, applies only to usage beyond the purchased SKU, and is controlled by a rolling 24‑hour CU‑hour limit set by the capacity admin. It does not improve performance or increase capacity size, but ensures workloads continue uninterrupted during short‑term spikes, complementing—rather than replacing—good capacity planning. The feature is currently in public preview and available only for F‑SKUs.
WHAT'S HAPPENING: Power Apps Per App User Subscription CSP Availability
WHEN: April 1, 2026
Microsoft previously announced that the Power Apps Per App User Subscription License would be discontinued and no longer available to buy as of January 2, 2026. However, a recent clarification states that this discontinuation does not apply to the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program. The license will return to CSP price lists and be fully available for new and renewing customers in early April 2026. The original end of sale date remains valid for EA and MPSA customers.
WHAT'S HAPPENING: Update to Copilot Chat Experience
WHEN: April 15, 2026
Starting April 15, 2026, tenants with more than 2,000 users will see changes to Copilot access for users without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Copilot will no longer be available directly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for unlicensed users. There are no changes for users already licensed with Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Users without a paid Copilot license will continue to have access to:
- Copilot Chat via the Microsoft 365 Copilot app
- Copilot features in Outlook
- Chat based Word, Excel, and PowerPoint agents
Microsoft will label this experience as “Copilot Chat (Basic)”, while licensed users will see “M365 Copilot (Premium)”.
