Who doesn’t love a cup of coffee to get your day started? Most of us have a preferred coffee house or café we go to. When you sit down for a cup of coffee from your favorite place, you’re not only buying the drink, but many times you’re buying the ambiance that goes with the coffee as well. Sometimes that may include the location or the people that frequent there, or even the fresh aromas and light music.
The ambiance is just as important as the product and services Long View provides. For the second year in a row, we’ve been nominated by our employees as a “Best Company to Work for in Colorado”. That doesn’t happen by accident. Much like a good cup of coffee, it starts with good planning, good ingredients, some caffeine, and the right environment. If you spoke to one of our employees about Long View and about what makes them stay, they might tell you that it’s the opportunities we offer and the people they work with.
Long View offers many different opportunities to get your career caffeinated. It all starts with the four Career Life Planning (CLP) sessions that each employee receives every year. Every employee sits down with their Team Lead or Manager and any others they’ve invited to talk through short and long term career goals and aspirations. This is also an opportunity to discuss training opportunities.
One of the most important ingredients to brewing the right cup of culture is our people. Without it our product might be a little bitter or just not as enjoyable. Our Core Pillars — Integrity, Competence, Value, and Fun — say everything about who we are, and what we stand for. It’s a place where friendships are made, great work is done and fun is had. We have many ways to connect with colleagues from excellent holiday parties and company get-togethers, to our philanthropic work to raise money for various charities and even “in the trenches” volunteer work like building playgrounds in Haiti.
This year we were a finalist for “Best Companies to Work for in Colorado™ 2014” through the Colorado Society of Human Resource Management. On October 30th we attended a banquet where we learned that we placed eighth in the Medium Companies category! This celebration was another testament that our success is truly driven by our employees.
