Long View Team Up To Go The Extra Mile

April 21, 2011
When it comes to healthy competition among co-workers, Andrew Bentley is all for it. The Director of Sales at Long View has signed up to run 10 kilometres in the upcoming Scotiabank Calgary Marathon. “So far, there are over 40 of us registered on our corporate team,” says Bentley. “Giving everyone a challenge to take on together is a great way to build team spirit." But this test is about more than crossing the finish line. It’s about raising money for an organization that is changing lives. On May 29, Bentley and the rest of the team will race towards ending homelessness, donating all the money they raise to Inn from the Cold. The team’s goal is $20,000 – which includes a $10,000 match from its employers. “So far, we’ve raised almost $4,000 and the pledges keep pouring in,” says Bentley. “It makes me proud to be associated with an organization that believes so strongly in philanthropy, and it feels good knowing that there’s a direct correlation between running in the race and helping homeless families rebuild their lives.” The corporate team, Long View/NetApp, is the result of two organizations coming together in support of the Inn. NetApp, Inc. specializes in computer storage and data management, and Long View is an IT company that resells NetApp’s products. Team captain Dave Botterill says the partnership made sense. “NetApp and Long View are business partners but we also share a passion for supporting the Inn. It was the perfect opportunity to put our energy and efforts together to raise money and awareness for a great cause.” “The support of corporations is vital to the Inn,” says Yvette Rasmussen, Executive Director, Inn from the Cold. “This partnership shows how businesses can really make a difference when they join forces and encourage employee participation. We’re so proud of the Long View/NetApp team and what they’ve accomplished so far.” About 11,000 runners and walkers are expected to take part in this year’s Scotiabank Calgary Marathon and hope to raise about $275,000 for participating charities. To learn more about the race or to register, visit http://www.calgarymarathon.com/. About Inn from the Cold: For 15 years, Inn from the Cold has served the needs of Calgary’s most vulnerable citizens through the provision of shelter, help and hope. At the Inn, homeless families and others in need find a place of compassion – where their immediate needs are met. Through its Emergency Family Shelter and community-based temporary emergency shelter program, families and singles begin to rebuild their lives and end the cycle of homelessness, while becoming equipped with the skills and resources to build an independent and successful future. The Inn’s vision is a community where no family is homeless.

For sixth straight year, Long View earns Cisco’s esteemed customer satisfaction excellence nod

March 17, 2011
CALGARY, Alberta (March 22, 2011) — Customer service has always been the cornerstone of operations for Long View Systems (Long View). Once again, a very powerful partner has given Long View, one of North America’s fastest growing IT solutions providers, a big pat on the back for its unwavering customer service commitment. For the sixth straight year, Cisco Systems, one of the world’s largest networking corporations, has recognized Long View — already a Cisco Gold Certified Partner — for achieving Cisco Channel Customer Satisfaction Excellence status in Canada. The Customer Satisfaction Excellence award is based on industry surveys, as well as customer satisfaction results collected through the Cisco Partner Access Online tool. Customer Satisfaction Excellence is the highest distinction available to Cisco partners. “No other Canadian partner has consistently won this award for this long. It’s a great honour to earn this sort of distinction from Cisco once again,” says Kent Macdonald, Long View’s Vice-President of Business Development. “Long View and Cisco both see things the same way — that unwavering customer service is a core value, a catalyst for current and future success, and one of the highest priorities,” adds Macdonald. “This sort of recognition just reaffirms the sort of commitment Long View has to the success of our customers.” Long View’s newfound status will be spread throughout Cisco’s online properties, including the Cisco Partner Locator. This will allow Cisco personnel, partners, and potential customers to appreciate Long View’s enviable customer satisfaction rating as part of Cisco’s global assessment process. Long View is an industry leader in deploying integrated networking solutions. In addition to network infrastructure, Long View has achieved Cisco’s highest level of credibility and broadest range of expertise by excelling in advanced specializations such as unified communications, routing and switching, wireless, and security. In 2010, Long View was named the North American Cisco Collaboration Partner of the Year as well as the Cisco Data Center/Virtualization Partner of the Year in both 2010 and 2011. Cisco decorates Long View with third straight Data Center Partner of the Year award

March 10, 2011
Calgary, Alberta – March 10, 2011 – Any great partnership thrives on some give and take. At the moment, Long View Systems is giving data center architecture a whole new look . . . and taking home yet another prominent award. Long View, one of North America’s pre-eminent providers of IT solutions, has won Cisco’s Canadian Data Center Partner of the Year honour for the third year in a row. “It’s a thrill to be recognized by Cisco for such a prestigious award . . . even more so when it’s three years running,” says Kent MacDonald, Long View’s Vice-President of Business Development. “Long View and Cisco are working together on some exciting projects that are revolutionizing virtualization and the data center concept. “Thanks to our position as a leading Cisco partner, we’re providing the very best in support to our customers,” adds MacDonald, “by making available these advanced collaboration and data center solutions.” The Canadian Data Center Partner of the Year award was announced March 1 during Cisco’s annual channel partner conference, Partner Summit 2011, at New Orleans. “Cisco works diligently with all of its channel partners, and it’s an honour to announce Long View as a Cisco Partner Summit regional award recipient,” says Jim Sherriff, senior vice-president of U.S. and Canada Partner Organization at Cisco. “The Canadian Data Center Partner of the Year award presented to Long View recognizes its performance and expertise as a Cisco channel partner in Canada in 2010.” Long View and Cisco, along with NetApp, VCE and VMware, are currently redefining the modern data center with the introduction of data center architectures including FlexPod (www.netapp.com/us/technology/flexpod/), and Vblock (www.vcecoalition.com). FlexPod is a prevalidated data center solution built on a flexible, shared infrastructure that can scale easily, be optimized for a variety of mixed application workloads, or be configured for virtual desktop or server infrastructure, secure multi-tenancy, or cloud environments. FlexPod delivers leading computing, networking, storage, and infrastructure software components. VCE's Vblock Infrastructure Packages deliver a complete IT infrastructure that integrates best-of-breed virtualization, networking, compute, storage, security, and management technologies. Cisco, EMC and VMware have invested in industry-first collaborative delivery of seamless customer support with end-to-end vendor accountability. “As we look down the road, companies will need to take a broader, more progressive approach to data center architecture,” says MacDonald. “The data center convergence technologies we are partnering on with Cisco and their eco partners put our customers on the cusp of technology while improving service, efficiency, and profitability.” Cisco Partner Summit awards are presented at three levels — regional, theater, and global. Cisco Partner Summit U.S. and Canada regional awards reflect a partner’s performance in a given geographic region of the U.S. or Canada. This marks Long View’s second award from Cisco Systems, a worldwide networking leader, in just over a month. On Jan. 30, Long View was recognized for achieving Cisco Channel Customer Satisfaction Excellence status in Canada for the third straight year. Long View Ranked No. 1 Overall on Prestigious List of Global MSPs

February 17, 2011
Calgary, Alberta – February 18, 2011Long View Systems (Long View), one of North America’s most powerful IT solution providers  has a distinguished new feather in its cap — as the world’s No. 1-ranked managed service provider (MSP) on Nine Lives Media Inc.’s fourth annual MSPmentor 100, a prestigious list that uses painstaking research to identify the globe’s top 100 MSPs every year. Previously, Long View had twice earned a top-five ranking in the MSPmentor 100 — fourth overall in 2008, and second overall in 2010. This year’s MSPmentor 100, which was released on Wednesday, includes industry participants from five continents — North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. “This is incredible news. We know just from talking to the folks at Nine Lives Media Inc. that to even make the final 100 is a major accomplishment. This just affirms Long View’s commitment to constant innovation and excellence in delivery of service,” says Kevin Crowe, Long View’s Director of Cloud Services. “Our Managed Services team has outdone itself again,” adds Crowe. “Thanks to their dedication, strong work ethic and enthusiasm, our customers reap the benefits of Long View’s cutting-edge technical and operational solutions.” Long View has surged into its present position as a leader of the global MSP pack, and made serious inroads into a managed-services market that’s estimated to be worth more than $50 billion a year, thanks to its all-inclusive model that draws on the expertise of every industry leading Long View practice, including Storage, Virtualization, Server Infrastructure, Cloud Computing, and Network Services. Long View has consistently demonstrated an ability to deliver sophisticated business technology solutions and meet exacting client requirements. “We continue to see accelerating momentum for the world’s top MSPs,” notes Joe Panettieri, editorial director of Nine Lives Media Inc. “The top 100 MSPs generated more than $1 billion in recurring revenues for 2010, up 27 per cent from 2009. That’s remarkable growth, considering the challenging global economic landscape in 2010.” “Long View focuses specifically on delivering key services and solutions that are critical to the success of our customer’s businesses,” states Dan Sottile, Executive VP Sales, Marketing and Business Development for North America. “Our amazing growth and the fact we continue to be consistently recognized as leaders in the IT industry confirms we are on the right path.” The current MSPmentor 100 report is based on information from MSPmentor’s global online survey, carried out from October through December 2010. Rather than ranking MSPs simply by total revenue, Nine Lives Media Inc. uses an index measurement based on such metrics as annual managed services revenue growth, managed services revenue per employee, and number of customer devices managed.
