Azure Migration Services

Move your on-premises workloads to Microsoft Azure.

Long View Azure Migration Services.

The Long View Azure Migration Service employs a comprehensive approach to move your on-premises workloads to Microsoft Azure. This service leverages the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) to implement a secure Azure Landing Zone and deliver a successful migration of your workloads.

Long View Cloud Methodology

ASSESS

Understand what assets you have. What software and functionality they provide. Where they should go.

TRANSITION & MIGRATION

The seven Rs:

1. Retain
2. Re-platform
3. Retire
4. Refactor
5. Re-host
6. Re-architect
7. Re-Purchase

OPERATE

Provide visibility on what is running where. Ensure oversight on cost and performance across environments.

MANAGED & SECURE

Layer in management in areas where it makes sense and delivers true business value.

ASSESS

As part of the migration, Long View completes an analysis to determine what workloads could and should be moved to Azure. The assessment defines if the business applications and workloads are running on the optimal platform, whether it is in your own datacenter, hosted or in a public cloud. Long View Systems utilizes Azure Migrate as a tool to access and migrate resources.

TRANSITION & MIGRATION

During the transition and Migration phase, Long View focuses on the 7 R’s of Application Assessment in order to optimize the migration, leveraging Long View’s Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) licensing platform. In addition, Long View implements an Azure Landing zone based on the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework based on the customer requirements.

AZURE FOUNDATIONS (LANDING ZONE)

Long View Azure Foundations delivers a secure by design environment running on the Microsoft Azure public cloud platform and is implemented by certified Long View cloud engineers. Your team will learn how to build, run, and operate Azure securely through a series of knowledge transfer and design workshops. Long View then implements the landing zone based on the input from these workshops.

TRANSITION AND MIGRATION

These strategies help us categorize and prioritize workloads for migration and determine the optimal destination and configuration for each one. We also consider the dependencies, risks, and benefits of each workload and how they align with your business objectives and outcomes.

  • Retain: The workload is unsuitable for cloud migration and should be set aside for now.
  • Retire: The workload is no longer needed and should be decommissioned.
  • Replace: The workload should be replaced with a new technology that offers better functionality or cost-effectiveness.
  • Re-Host: The workload should be lifted and shifted to the cloud without any major changes.
  • Re-Platform: The workload should be upgraded to a newer or more compatible operating system before moving to the cloud.
  • Re-Architect: The workload should undergo significant changes in its architecture to leverage cloud-native features and capabilities.
  • Re-Purchase: The workload should be re-evaluated for new options available to license or purchase it via Long Views CSP platform.

OPERATE

After moving to the cloud, there are several factors to consider for successful operation of the resources. These factors depend on whether the customer or Long View's managed services offerings operate the cloud. Some of the operation factors include scalability, availability, security and cost-effectiveness, among others. Long View uses a standard set of high-quality tools to monitor and handle any incidents that may occur, depending on the service offerings that Long View Systems provide. Scalability - Choosing the right service type for the workload that can adjust to the demand and performance requirements. Availability - Making sure that the workload has high availability by using different redundancy options, such as availability zones, availability sets, and fault domains. Backup and disaster recovery for the workload that can prevent data loss and downtime in case of any failures or disasters.

Security: Long View's Security operations center can provide a complete security framework that covers the workload from the infrastructure level to the application level. We offer advanced security tools and services, such as Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, and Azure Defender, to monitor, detect, and respond to threats and vulnerabilities.

Cost-effectiveness: Our extensive knowledge and training in FinOps can reduce the cost of the workload by offering flexible pricing models, such as pay-as-you-go, reserved instances, and spot instances. Azure also offers cost management and governance tools to our CSP customers, that can help manage and monitor the spending and compliance of the workload.

MANAGE & SECURE

Managing Azure after a migration requires ongoing monitoring and management to ensure the workload is running optimally and securely. Long View provides the following services:

  • Azure Managed Services: Providing 24/7 support and maintenance for the workload, including patching, backup, recovery, performance optimization, and security hardening. Leveraging its expertise and best practices to provide guidance and recommendations for improving the workload's efficiency and effectiveness. Long View offers both traditional managed services and NextGen Ops Managed services. NextGen Ops for Azure helps your business to digitally-transform securely using easy to implement and support, code-based infrastructure (IaC), enabling your business to keep an edge on the competition while keeping infrastructure costs low.
  • Azure Cloud Optimization: Optimizing the workload's cost and monitoring the performance by using various tools and techniques, such as rightsizing, resource tagging, resource grouping, and automation. Identifying and eliminate any unused or underutilized resources that may be wasting money and resources.
  • Azure Cloud Governance: Establishing and enforce policies and standards for the workload's security, compliance, and quality. Long View can also help implement and manage various governance mechanisms, such as role-based access control, identity and access management, audit logging, and reporting. Long View can also help ensure the workload adheres to the relevant regulatory and industry requirements, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
  • Azure Health Check: A service that helps simplify and maximize the health of Azure resources. It focuses on the improvements that can be made for the resources being used today and is essential for maintaining the overall health, performance, and security for applications and services running on the Azure platform.
