Calgary, AB – April 16, 2010 – Long View Systems (Long View), a leading provider of business technology solutions to companies throughout North America and one of Calgary’s Best Places to Work in 2009, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Calgary Economic Development on their innovative telework pilot program called WORKshift.
The WORKshift program is designed to accelerate and promote the adoption of telework within the business community in Calgary and the benefits that both employers and employees can experience because of it. A key goal of the program is to demonstrate how an innovative approach to working will improve competitiveness, reduce operating expenses, and improve quality of life while reducing the city’s carbon footprint.
Participating organizations are provided with a world-class toolkit to facilitate the rapid implementation of their own telework programs and includes the necessary training and software tools for on-boarding teleworkers, monitoring, and measuring the savings and productivity gains realized through telework. As part of the company’s participation in the WORKshift program, Long View will be featuring its Telepresence suites in Calgary, Edmonton, and Denver. Telepresence refers to a set of technologies, which creates an environment similar to in-person collaboration over the network. Telepresence interactions may use a combination of low latency, high quality video and audio to create live, seemingly in-person communications allowing for the benefits of more effective communication without the need for costly business travel. To date, Long View estimates a savings of close to $500,000 in travel related costs from the use of Telepresence. In addition, 118 metric tons of CO2 emissions were eliminated, an amount equivalent to the annual greenhouse gas emissions of 23 vehicles or the total energy use of 10 homes per year.
