For the past three seasons, the Long View Edmonton branch has fielded an indoor soccer team in the local community sports league called the Long View Titans. I am a part of that team. We took our name from the fact that the company won the 2010 “Titan of Technology” award from the Colorado Software and Internet Association. Long View Systems places a great emphasis on being an extended “family” and the Titans whole heartedly embrace this philosophy by recruiting our employees’ friends and family to come and play with us!
We wrapped up the 2013-2014 indoor season in March, and can be proud in proclaiming this our most successful year ever. If you look just at the overall standings, things didn’t change much from the previous two seasons, and we still finished with more losses than wins.
But of course, we don’t gauge our success by points, or goals scored, or plus/minus, or any other dry sports statistic. For the Titans, the only metric that matters is how much fun we had playing, and by all accounts that was had in copious amounts by all of us. The great thing about our team is that we come out for every game in the spirit of sportsmanship and friendship, and regardless of the result, we never give up and keep playing hard right to the final whistle. It’s easy for any group of guys to have fun and be best friends when you win every game, but it takes a really good group of people to keep the fun and friendship level so strong when you’re on a losing streak. You can say what you like about our record or our skill level, but when it comes to embodying the word “team”, nobody else comes even close to the Titans.
It’s the same spirit that defines the larger Long View Systems family. Work hard, persevere through problems, continue trying to find a way to get the job done, and know that you have an expert, professional team of people behind you, willing to jump in and help. And do so in a way that is still fun and supportive. That’s Long View both on and off the field.
