Intermediate Network Contractor

Long View is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Networking Consultant on a Contractual basis for our Calgary office that has experience designing, deploying, managing and troubleshooting networks. We are looking for someone who can bring expertise in managing requirements through strong business and technical consulting skills to our clients.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of Cisco network experience including:
    • Cisco Catalyst Switches
    • Cisco ISR Routers
    • Cisco Firewall and VPN technologies
    • Cisco Nexus Data Centre Switches
  • Thorough understanding and experience with the following fundamental technologies:
    • IGP and EGP routing protocols, ie: OSPF, BGP
      • Route filtering and policy-based routing
    • Lan-to-Lan/Site-to-Site and remote access VPN technologies
      • DMVPN knowledge would be valuable
    • Vendor neutral implementations of spanning-tree procotol (ie: RSTP, MSTP), along with vendor specific implementations (ie: RPVSTP+)
      • Spanning-tree avoidance technologies such as Virtual Switching System (VSS), Virtual Port-Channel (vPC), and Multi-Chassis EtherChannel (MEC)
    • Network layer Quality of Service (QoS)
  • Experience working with Internet/WAN service providers, integrating with WAN technologies such as MPLS L3VPN, VPLS, EVPL
  • Industry best practice LAN design and deployment methodology, and a structured approach to troubleshooting. Ability to deliver concise, accurate technical documentation and diagrams.
  • Exposure and understanding of network automation techniques and technologies. Knowledge of software development pipelines would be considered an asset.
  • 1-2 years operations experience and 3-5 years project experience including leading client implementations
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in Routing and Switching, or other Cisco professional level certification
  • Experience in another discipline within networking such as collaboration, data center, security and wireless
  • Support sales staff providing product knowledge, including bill of material and statement of work development
  • Experience providing pre and post-sales support to clients and sales teams in resolving any technical issues, as well as communicating recommendations for current and future technology requirements
