IDC MarketScape Canada positions Long View as a Major Player for its Hybrid Cloud capabilities

November 26, 2015
CALGARY, Alberta (November 26, 2015) — It’s a major-league offering, and it’s now enjoying major-league recognition. Long View, one of North America’s most powerful providers of Hybrid Cloud solutions, is thrilled to announce that it has been named a Major Player by International Data Corporation (IDC) Canada in its IDC MarketScape: Canadian Hybrid Cloud Services 2015 Vendor Assessment, (doc #CA10SSC15, November 2015). Long View’s Hybrid Cloud offerings deliver the ability for a business to use a single pane of glass to manage resources across on-premises, private cloud and public cloud platforms. Hybrid Cloud offerings empower customers to blend various consumption models based on the needs of their organization—ultimately delivering better utilization of assets, infrastructure and application monitoring, and the power to move workloads when business requirements change. IDC Canada’s 2015 IDC MarketScape: Canadian Hybrid Cloud Services report is the fourth in a series covering the infrastructure-based cloud computing market in Canada. “Being named as a Major Player in an IDC MarketScape series report is fantastic news. At Long View, we pride ourselves on being experts in the Hybrid Cloud landscape with our demonstrated maturity and size,” says Dave Frederickson, Vice President Sales, Marketing and Business Development at Long View. “We use our experience, our expertise, and our objectivity in helping our customers select a customized set of solutions that’s right for them,” adds Frederickson. “Recognition like this, following a rigorous third-party audit process, is incredibly rewarding.” The IDC MarketScape series was driven by market demand to understand vendor capabilities, as buyers look to expand their use of cloud computing and integrate cloud and onsite technologies. The Canadian Hybrid Cloud Services 2015 Vendor Assessment assesses 13 of the country’s largest Hybrid Cloud service providers, and is based on in-depth interviews with providers and feedback from their customers. “The market for cloud services is quickly shifting from isolated infrastructure-based solutions for developing applications and content delivery, to platforms that integrate onsite, public and private infrastructure as a service (IaaS),” says Mark Schrutt, IDC Canada’s Research Vice President, Services and Enterprise Applications. “As the market is transitioning, buyers are embarking on a maturity curve,” adds Schrutt. “Vendors can also be placed on a similar continuum, from simple integration of their own solutions to enabling full interoperability and tools to manage these complex environments.”   ABOUT LONG VIEW: Long View is one of the most powerful IT solutions and services companies in North America, with offices across the continent. Long View selects cultural ambassador Bill Evelyn as new leader of its Calgary branch

May 29, 2015
CALGARY, Alberta and DENVER, Colorado (June 1, 2015) — Bill Evelyn knows Calgary’s information technology (IT) scene inside and out. Just as importantly, he’s brimming with Stampede City spirit. After holding IT industry leadership positions in Calgary for more than two decades, Long View is excited to announce Bill being named General Manager of its Calgary branch, effective today. Most recently, Bill has been based in Calgary as General Manager, Practices for Long View (longviewsystems.com), one of North America’s most powerful providers of Hybrid IT solutions and services. “Bill has an amazing set of relationships within the Calgary IT industry, and is an excellent cultural ambassador within Long View,” says Gord Mawhinney, Long View’s Chief Executive Officer. “I am very confident in Bill’s ability to lead the Calgary branch to continued success.” Bill began working at Long View in March 2013. As the general manager for Long View’s recently launched Hybrid IT practices, he has been integral to its early success and strategic application across North America, and demonstrated tremendous leadership at the helm of Long View’s new team of Hybrid IT practice directors. Previously, Bill spent nearly 20 years as Calgary-based senior regional director for Microsoft Canada Co., running Microsoft’s enterprise business in Western Canada. He also has industry experience with IBM Canada, and graduated with honours from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 1988. Long View insiders maintain that Bill’s knowledge of the Western Canadian IT landscape is matched only by his interest in vintage guitars and a long day on the links. Bill replaces Jeff Mathews — who has held dual roles as branch manager of Long View’s Calgary and Houston offices in recent months, and will now focus solely on Long View’s Houston operations. Robin Bell, Long View’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), has assumed Bill’s role leading the company’s Hybrid IT practice directors. “This is a natural fit for Robin,” remarks Gord, “with his passion for leadership and deep technology capability.” ABOUT LONG VIEW: Long View is one of the most powerful IT solutions and services companies in North America, with offices across the continent.
